Congratulations 2015 Spring Graduates

Congratulations! On May 16th, 2015 we said good luck once again to our departments graduates. This spring semester we had two Agricultural Education degree recipients Jemma Morrow and Michelle Ball. Jemma Morrow will be returning to Montana and has applied for a Natural Science teaching position in Kalispell. Michelle Ball is actively pursuing teaching positions in Idaho and the surrounding states.  In addition, to the Agricultural Education majors our department to pleased to congratulate our seven Agricultural Science, Communication, and Leadership graduates, Seth Pratt, Jaci Filler, Holly Cunningham, Hernan Labra, Darby Linares-Gerbauer, Daniel Davis, and John Anderson.  Seth Pratt is headed to South Carolina, to work with an agriculture consulting firm. Jaci Filler is working as a wildlife fighter, with hopes of becoming a smoke jumper. Holly Cunningham is pursuing a Master's degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management at the University of Idaho. Idaho CDE's are Coming to Moscow!

Idaho FFA CDE's are Coming to the University of Idaho Get ready, Moscow! On June 1, 2015 Idaho FFA members will be flooding to our campus to compete in thirteen career development events.  CDEs have always been and remain a huge part of teaching and learning. They help the classroom experience come alive for our high school agriculture students. These  events will run throughout the week and will include everything from Agricultural Mechanics to Food Science and Technology, and even Livestock and Meats Evaluations.  The AEE department would like to wish best of luck to all the students competing in the upcoming events. Our department would also like to thank everyone that has volunteered to make next week a huge success. It would not be possible without you. Agricultural and Extension Education Building Update

AEE Building Renovations  Starting June 6, 2015 and running throughout the summer the Agricultural and Extension Education building will be under going an exterior renovation. The remodel will feature new siding, entrances and handicap support ramps. The remodel is to be completed in time for the upcoming school year.    The building hours will remain the same and staff offices will remain open. If on campus, come and check out the progress. Even stop in and say a hello to the department staff. 

AEE at Washington FFA State Leadership Convention

AEE Students help out Washington's FFA Convention During May 14-16th, numerous AEE students drove the six miles over to Washington State University to help with the 85th annual Washington  FFA State Leadership Conference.  Over the  three day conference our students and professors helped organize and judge several Career Development Events for over 3,000 Washington FFA members.  Our department is so proud of not only our students' dedication to  promoting the future of generation of agriculturists, but to our professors dedication as well.  We'd like to thank Dr. Jim Connors for organizing the Novice Parliamentary Procedure CDE and Dr. Jeremy Falk for facilitating the Agricultural Communications CDE, and Dr. Kattlyn Wolf for judging throughout the convention. Keep  up the great work Agricultural and Extension Education students and staff. 

Agricultural Education thrives at the University of Idaho

University of Idaho offers a wide variety of opportunities for Ag Education students. By: Capital Press The Agricultural Education program at the University of Idaho continues to be a leader in teacher education in agriculture. The faculty in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education work with undergraduates and graduate students preparing to become secondary agriculture teachers. University of Idaho Agricultural Education majors have numerous opportunities to gain experiences throughout the year. Students assist with the FFA District and State Career Development Events, assist with the Idaho and Washington FFA State Leadership Conferences, and help run events at the National FFA Convention each fall. Four professors in Agricultural Education coordinate National FFA Career Development Events at the convention. University of Idaho Capstone Trip

2015 University of Idaho Capstone Trip! By: Jemma Morrow, UI Teacher Candidate   First off, I want to say thank you to the University of Idaho Agricultural and Extension Education Department along with Dr. Falk for this amazing trip. There were so many firsts and new experiences for everyone who was on the trip. The trip started on Saturday, May 2. Michelle Ball, Dr. Falk, and I flew into Philadelphia. We spent the evening in Philly eating Philly Cheese steaks and exploring this historically important City. We saw the Liberty Bell and the grave of Benjamin Franklin. The city was very humbling. The next day we explored Washington DC. We started at Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic Church in America. The sheer size of the building was amazing. Then we went to the National Mall. We saw the Air and Space Smithsonian Museum and the Natural History Smithsonian. We also saw the Washington, Lincoln, Vietnam War, Korean War, and W
