According to the National FFA Association, "Individuals who have provided exceptional service on a national level to agriculture, agricultural education, or FFA are eligible for the Honorary American FFA Degree. Additionally, teachers who have created high-quality agricultural education programs which inspire and motivate their students to strive for success are eligible". The award is among the highest of honors within the FFA organization.  University of Idaho Agricultural Education and Extension faculty member, Dr. Kattlyn Wolf received the Honorary American FFA Degree during the 91 st National FFA Convention. When asked about her history in FFA Dr. Kattlyn Wolf responded with “This is the fun one!!  I was a relatively “late bloomer” in FFA. By Kassadie Dunham      On Saturday, April 15, University of Idaho Collegiate FFA members gathered to celebrate Easter weekend by cleaning up our section of highway 8, just outside of Troy. After two hours, the ten members had picked up eleven bags of garbage. The members then gathered at Kattlyn Wolf's house to enjoy a delicious Easter meal and decorate Easter eggs. CFFA is a family away from home and those members unable to go home were able to celebrate this holiday together.

University of Idaho Heads to the Western Region Conference By: Dr. Jeremy Falk Faculty members from University of Idaho Agricultural and Extension Education recently attended the Western Region Conference for the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE). The conference was held in Corvallis, OR from Sept. 14-17 on the campus of Oregon State University. Dr. Falk joined presented his research about coaching behaviors of FFA advisors, and also presented a professional development workshop on recruiting efforts for the Teach Ag campaign. AAAE is a professional organization for the development of agricultural education, extension, leadership and communication. Membership is comprised of professors and graduate students and topics of presentation are sought to further the impact of agricultural education.

North Idaho District FFA Career Development Events By: Dr. Jeremy Falk Skills in agriculture were recently demonstrated by FFA members when the North Idaho District (NID) held its Career Development Events with the support of faculty and students in Agricultural and Extension Education. More than 50 high school students participated in three events: Meats Evaluation CDE, Job Interview CDE, and the district officer selection process. Collegiate FFA members were active in running the day’s events and were cheerful guides for the high school students. “It is a fun way to be involved and see behind-the-scenes when we host CDEs on campus. I feel like I’ll be better prepared when I’m an agriculture teacher,” said Pamela Holman, graduate student in Agricultural and Extension Education.
