Summer break provides students with a much-needed break as well as an opportunity to dive into new opportunities by taking advantage of internships and jobs. For these four AEE students, classes may not have been in session, but they were still immersed in learning and new experiences. Mary Kate Myers Class Standing: Senior Major: Agricultural Sciences, Communication, & Leadership Position: University of Idaho’s States’ 4-H International Exchange Program Intern In my internship, I helped with placing Exchange Delegates with host families all over the state of Idaho, as well as conducting home interviews with families and contacting references for the families. I worked as part of a team to assist with delegates arriving in the United States and meeting host families, along with picking up delegates that stayed in North Idaho on the way to Boise for departure. Just because class is out doesn't mean AEE student's don't continue to learn. Check out four examples of internships our students experienced. Molly Sparrow Class Standing:  Junior  Major:  Agricultural Education Position:  Latah County Extension Intern 
 I was attracted to this position because it creates a great avenue to network with the local 4-H and FFA students in the area. I enjoy working with kids of all ages and experiencing the diversity of extension education as well as agricultural education. I taught a safe sitter class, instructed at horse camp, and prepared many things for the Latah County Fair.  I never did the same thing twice and I got to get out and be involved with the community. The most important concept I walked away with was that every student matters. Whether they are showing their cat, steer, working on rockets or just attending a safe sitter class. AEE Department Student Selected The Agricultural and Extension Education department would like to congratulate Tanner White. Ms. White was selected for a collegiate convention assistant in the events department.  She will be representing our department this fall as one of twelve college students chosen from the across the country to help facilitate the National FFA Convention this October  in Louisville, Kentucky.  Good luck and represent University of Idaho well. Congratulations! On May 16th, 2015 we said good luck once again to our departments graduates. This spring semester we had two Agricultural Education degree recipients Jemma Morrow and Michelle Ball. Jemma Morrow will be returning to Montana and has applied for a Natural Science teaching position in Kalispell. Michelle Ball is actively pursuing teaching positions in Idaho and the surrounding states.  In addition, to the Agricultural Education majors our department to pleased to congratulate our seven Agricultural Science, Communication, and Leadership graduates, Seth Pratt, Jaci Filler, Holly Cunningham, Hernan Labra, Darby Linares-Gerbauer, Daniel Davis, and John Anderson.  Seth Pratt is headed to South Carolina, to work with an agriculture consulting firm. Jaci Filler is working as a wildlife fighter, with hopes of becoming a smoke jumper. Holly Cunningham is pursuing a Master's degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management at the University of Idaho. AEE Helps Idaho FFA Rise Above at Convention On April 6th, twenty four AEE students headed to Twin Falls for the FFA State Leadership Conference. Over the four day conference our students helped facilitate leadership workshops, career developments events, and motivational speeches for over 1,000 high school students. During the conference, not only did Collegiate FFA have the unique opportunity to raise awareness for Agriculture. They were also able to recruit new members to the University of Idaho by facilitating a workshop for numerous Idaho FFA members. Our department is so proud of our students dedication to promoting the future of generation of agriculturists. By  helping #FFARISEABOVE!

Three Students to Represent at the 2015 New Century Farmer Conference! The Agricultural and Extension Education department would like to congratulate Kellsie Hodges, Tanner White, and Olivia Zurcher!  These three young ladies were selected from college students across the country to represent the new generation of agriculturalists.  In July, these three will be headed to DeMonies, Iowa for a week long conference. Over the course, of the week they will participate in industry tours, explore new farm business opportunities, and most importantly grow personally and professionally.  We are so proud of you. Good luck and represent the University of Idaho well!

Meet Renee Hanson . . .  By: Tanner White I would like to introduce Renee Hanson, our new Office Administrator for the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education.  Renee hails from Genesee, Idaho where she lives with her husband and three daughters. She comes from a farming family and her and her husband currently run a small cattle operation in Genesee. Where h er and her family are active members in the community, supporting the town of Genesee.   Please join in welcoming Renee to the Idaho Agricultural Education family. Stop by her office in the Agricultural Education building and say a hello! She can't wait to meet the members of our University of Idaho family. 

CFFA Dodgeball Game! Written by: Cody Beus Collegiate FFA held their first activity of the semester by having a dodgeball game and making pizza. It was a great time to socialize with incoming members and friends. Toppings were available to customize your own pizza and four ovens going to help get the pizza back fast. The dodgeball game was an intense dogfight with faculty included. CFFA Kicks Off the New Year! By: Tanner White This past weekend the University of Idaho Collegiate FFA held its annual executive officer retreat. Over the course of two days our newly elected officers and standing committee chairs came together in an effort to ensure their teams success for the upcoming year. Not only did they formulate a new Program of Activities. They were also able to generate several ideas on how to better serve the chapter's members, but also the community of Moscow. The University of Idaho's Collegiate FFA works closely within our department and with our faculty to promote current Idaho FFA members and future Agricultural Educators. Through is collaboration our CFFA members are able to facilitate a wide variety of student workshops, and career development events on the state and national level. Corrin Norquist, Megan O' Niell, Jay Sutton, Haylee Palmer Congratulations  By: Tanner White  On December 13th, 2014 we said good luck to four of our Agricultural Science, Communication and Leadership majors. These fine individuals are about to embark on a great journey as they begin their careers. Corrin Norquist has decided to return home, before she selects the dairy of her choice. Megan O'Niell is returning to her native state of California to work for a non-profit organization, before returning to school to complete her Master's Degree. Jay Sutton has accepted a job with Simplot in Wilder, Idaho and will begin working towards becoming a Crop Advisor. And Haylee Palmer just accepted and offer to work in Spokane, Washington for Northwest Farm Credit Services. Congratulations once again graduates. We wish you the very best of luck in life!
